Why insight days matter for your career
Insight days (and their longer equivalents — insight weeks or spring programmes) are short, structured employer events designed to introduce students to a company and its work. They are typically aimed at first-year undergraduates or A-Level students, and many are specifically designed for students from underrepresented backgrounds. Attending an insight day gives you a genuine understanding of what working at a firm involves, which strengthens your motivation statements in later applications. Many insight programmes also fast-track participants to vacation scheme or internship interviews at the same firm — making them an important early step in competitive industries like law, banking, and consulting. Applications are often less competitive than internship or vacation scheme applications, so they provide a realistic first opportunity to engage with professional recruitment processes.
