About this opportunity
Pinsent Masons’ 2028 Training Contract is a two-year programme based in its London office. Starting in September 2028, the programme provides experience across different practice areas while helping trainees develop the legal knowledge, commercial awareness and professional skills needed to qualify as solicitors. Trainees receive structured training, mentorship and ongoing support. Pinsent Masons also covers eligible postgraduate legal education tuition fees and provides a maintenance grant. The London trainee salary is currently £54,000 in the first year and £59,000 in the second year, subject to annual review.
Who is it for?
This programme is suitable for penultimate-year law students and those at a later stage, final-year non-law students and those at a later stage, and graduates. Career changers are also welcome to apply. The direct September 2028 training contract is available in London only. Candidates interested in Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds should apply for the 2027 Vacation Placement, which can lead to a September 2029 training contract.

Requirements
Applicants must have achieved at least ABB at A-Level, or an equivalent qualification worth 128 UCAS points, within one examination period and without resits. They must also have, or be predicted to achieve, a 2:1 degree or above. Applicants must have reached at least the penultimate year of a law degree or the final year of a non-law degree, or have already graduated. Those who do not meet the minimum academic criteria may disclose mitigating circumstances in their registration form. Previous legal work experience is not required.
How to apply
Applications opened on 15 September 2026 and close at 12:00pm on 4 November 2026. Candidates must first complete a registration form, application form and online blended assessment containing situational-judgement and video questions. Successful applicants will be invited to an in-person assessment centre consisting of a one-to-one interview, business simulation exercise and case study. Candidates who perform well throughout the process may then receive a training contract offer.
