Training Contract 2028

McDermott Will & Schulte’s 2028 London Training Contract provides a structured route to qualifying as a solicitor. Successful candidates will first complete an intensive one-year programme at BPP from September 2027, during which they will prepare for and sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. After completing this study period, candidates will begin two years of qualifying work experience at the firm in September 2028. The training contract will provide the practical legal experience and professional development required to qualify as a solicitor. McDermott Will & Schulte will pay the fees for the BPP programme and the costs of the SQE. Candidates will also receive an annual stipend, currently £20,000, to help with living expenses during the study year.

Aspiring solicitors who can begin a year of full-time SQE preparation in September 2027, followed by a two-year training contract at McDermott Will & Schulte’s London office from September 2028. Applications are open to law and non-law candidates, although those without a law degree must complete a law conversion course before beginning the SQE programme.

Successful candidates will receive a fully funded route through the SQE, including paid BPP tuition, covered examination costs and financial support during the study period. The subsequent two-year training contract will provide qualifying work experience within the London office of an international law firm, allowing trainees to develop their legal knowledge, commercial awareness, client-service skills and professional judgement while working towards qualification as a solicitor.
