Mini-pupillage

Pump Court Tax Chambers offers mini-pupillages for those considering a career as a barrister to gain insights into the work and life in a specialist tax set of chambers. The mini-pupillage lasts either two days in-person or one day virtually, during which participants are supervised by a junior member of chambers, undertake tasks related to tax law practice, and may attend court. Mini-pupils are paid £50 per day, with potential for additional needs-based funding. Priority is given to those in their second or later year of a law degree, those who have started the GDL, or are on the BTC. Applications are reviewed four times per year, with the next deadline being 4 August 2026 for placements from 1 September to 26 October 2026.

Primarily for undergraduate law students (second year or above), GDL or BTC students considering a career as a barrister, particularly those interested in tax law.

Insight into the work of a junior tax barrister, exposure to court proceedings, practical experience, supervised tasks, and opportunity to ask questions about chambers and professional life.
