Use this template as a starting point. Every sentence in square brackets should be replaced with something specific to you and to the organisation you are applying to. Do not send this template unchanged.
Personalisation guidance
The most important part of any cover letter is that it sounds like it was written for this employer. Before filling in this template, read the opportunity description carefully. Identify the two most important qualities or skills they describe. Find your best example of each from your own life. Then write your letter using those examples.
Opening paragraph
Your opening should state what you are applying for and where you found it. Be direct. One to two sentences is enough. Do not open with "I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual" — this adds no information and is not distinctive.
Closing the letter
Close by confirming your availability or that your CV is attached, and thanking them for their time. "I look forward to hearing from you" or "I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further" is a clean and professional close.
